An Intrepid team of dedicated Canadian aerospace engineers are building a human powered helicopter. This is a device that can fly powered only by the energy that can be generated by the human body. This has been a dream of mankind since the days of Leonardo De Vinci.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Igor I. Sikorsky Human Powered Helicopter Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cA prize of $250,000.00 is pledged by\u00a0<\/span>, for\u00a0the first\u00a0successful controlled flight of a human-powered helicopter that meets all of the requirements of\u00a0AHS International’s Igor I. Sikorsky Human Powered Helicopter Competition. A one minute hovering time and momentarily reaching 3 meters in altitude is required to win the AHS prize.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is a great initiative undertaken by the same team that flew the first human powered flapping wing aircraft, so they definitely are genuine rocket scientists in this field.
